I have been very lucky to be invited and sponsored to take part in Distancio - Tranås, Jönköping County, Sweden. In my words; Distancio coordinates four sets of artists and their specific and unique art practices, with four specific towns, Mullsjö, Gnosjö, Tranås and Värnamo, in Jönköping County, Sweden. Each artist set [I say set as there are not only individuals] is matched with a specific town, the town I’ll be working in is Tranås.
Distancio invites artists from all over the world to engage with specific places in Sweden. The vision of Distancio draws people of disparate [global] and specific [local] places together. Art is used to navigate ways through the dis-location and tensions arising from globalization and its chafing the local.
